Jenn’s Jazz comes from deep in her being and background. Jenn’s father Ben Bussanich a classically trained pianist also played jazz stride piano professionally in his youth and at home from about 3 years old, Jenn was singing along with Ben and learning the jazz phrasing and rhythms of Bing Crosby, The Mills Brothers, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Fats Waller, Hoagy Carmichael and plenty of others.
Classically trained in pianoforte and singing, Jenn’s passion to extend her vocal ability grew and she was soon singing classically in national eisteddfods and productions as well as performing in pop and folk gigs in her home town of Perth. After travelling overseas and singing any vocal genre wherever gigs were offered, Jenn finally settled back in Australia, moving to the east coast capital of Sydney. In Sydney she not only performed gigs in local pop and jazz music venues but worked as a radio music programmer of jazz, blues, pops and easy listening in commercial radio as well as presenting her own community radio breakfast classical and jazz program.
Today, Jenn’s voice comes rich and warm. Her multiple octave range presenting her audience with a clear vocal instrument, burnished with emotion and mature tones, sweet and savoury. Her extensive vocal jazz repertoire embraces jazz standards as well as many other popular numbers as reimaged by legendary arrangers now synonymous with a vocal jazz repertoire becoming hits for such icons as Sarah Vaughan, Carmen McRae and Peggy Lee, Frank Sinatra, Chris Connor, Ruth Brown, Nina Simon and others.
Currently in Melbourne music scene Jenn performs her relaxed engaging shows, sharing with her audience an easy camaraderie in the style of a jazz Supper-Club or lounge. Shows of an intimate declamatory style that informs on life and its ups and downs.
