ABOUT JENN
Expressive jazz has always drawn me in. It spoke to me before I could read.
I sang with Dad from about three, soaking up the jazz phrasing, off-beats and musicality he had. Then Ella, Pearl, Peggy, Bing, the brothers Mills, Louis, Glenn, Benny, Fats and Hoagy gave me the feel.
I trained classically and competed in various places — where subjective opinion thrived and by necessity my strength as a performer grew. I sang wherever the work was. Working as a singer, travelling and eventually creating music programs for others to hear. All this, honed my love of deep listening for discovery. And deep listening always sparks my curiosity to know more.
Now I’m further along the path, I want to share my thoughts and feelings about lots of things. About great love, great loss and the joy we can always find through curiosity. And of course Humor - Looking at the world from the perspective that it’s (mostly) funny. I mean seriously - is it even possible to look at the world sometimes without laughing these days? And how do I share? I share with my voice. Honed as it is now, by my experience of life, by my curiosity, by humor and just a little bit of wisdom - that may just resonate with you.
